Macau is a tourist hotspot in the West China. It lies in the Pearl River Delta, west of the Pearl River Estuary. The population of Macau is approximately 600 thousand people. It is also the fourth highest country in the world regarding life expectancy.

While it is a part of China, it has its own system of justice, legality, monetary matters, customs, and immigrations, etc. It is one of the richest regions in the world. It’s also the largest gambling center in the world. In fact, gambling and tourism are the two main pillars on which the economy lies.

Gambling facilities include Sands Macau, the Venetian Macau, Wynn Macau, and Casino Lisboa. There are numerous hotels and resorts in the area since it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. It is also famous for the mixture of Portuguese and Chinese cultures. The major number of tourists comes from nearby countries of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.

The history of the place goes as far as the Qin Dynasty in around 215 BC. The arrival of the Portuguese led to the development of the region as a major and popular hub. The region lies in proximity to Hong Kong, which acts as a further added incentive to visit it.

The geography of the place is that of a peninsula. Alto de Coloane tends to be the highest point in the territory at 170 m. The currency of the place is Pataca. The food in the place is heavily influenced by the Portuguese as it was its territory for a long time in the past.

The weather in Macau is stable. The temperature ranges from 16 to 25 degrees all-year-round. The best time to go to Macau, however, is between October and December. During the trip, some casual clothes will be enough for you. In winter, a coat or a jacket will do.
