We never travel without first looking at the travel alerts page for our respective destination. The purpose of a travel warning, travel alert, or travel advisory (whatever you would call it) is basically to warn and inform tourists about the relative safety of traveling to or visiting one or more specific foreign destinations.
Typical travel advisories include information about inclement weather, security matters (terrorist threats), civil unrest, or disease (epidemic situations).
Your Safety Matters
Travel Watch is usually issued at the national level by the government. Several countries issue and regularly update travel alerts and warnings. Take advantage of these sites to better plan your trip. These are to help you prepare for what you may encounter on your trip. The more informed you are the better prepared you will be to make decisions.
