Flying for the first time is an exciting, albeit terrifying, experience. However, after the first couple of flights, that excitement starts turning into a monotonous drone. Eventually, all you want to do on a flight is just close your eyes and doze off.

If you are someone who needs silence and lights out to sleep, then sleeping on a plane can be problematic. We have a few tips to help you sleep like a baby as you travel through the skies.

COMFY OUTFIT

Sorry Fashion Freaks we have some bad news. Skintight dresses, although adorable, cause asphyxia on airplanes. Stop choking yourself to death and wear a comfy outfit.

Wear trousers, chinos, or stretchy leggings, and go for a tank top or cotton shirt (light-colored, so you do not overheat).

A pullover hoodie coupled with a tank top is one of the most comfortable outfits you can wear on an airplane. If you want to sleep, it is best to be sporting a comfy outfit.

TRAVEL MASK

With lights going on and off in the cabin and the TV lights flickering with a bunch of eye-popping colors, it can be difficult to sleep. If you hope to get some sleep, then cover your eyes to block out those unwanted lights and distractions.

GET A NECK PILLOW

Have you ever tried valiantly to stay asleep with your neck strained at all kinds of odd angles? No matter how much you try to sleep, you find yourself awake in no time.

Many long-distance planes have foldable wings on the side of your neck for support. If your plane has these, you can make use of them.

However, it is better to carry a neck pillow with you, so that you can have a restful sleep without an aching neck.

NOISE CANCELLING HEADPHONES

Earplugs are good. If you ask me, earplugs are permanently attached to my ears when I am traveling. Even though earplugs come in handy, they can also get annoying and hurt your ears.

Moreover, most of the time you need to have the volume maxed out just to block out other noises on the airplane. Noise Cancelling Headphones, though expensive, is the perfect solution.

They block out the white noise of the airplane and allow you to actually hear your music. Do you want to sleep like a baby? Then get a pair of noise-canceling headphones to play your lullaby.

SLEEPY SONG PLAYLIST

I don’t know about you, but my phone has a sleepy song playlist. Compile a list of all the soulful songs that make your eyelashes hug each other. Once the light is blocked out, and the noises silenced, these songs will certainly carry you to dreamland.

AVOID CAFFEINE, GO FOR WINE

Do you know the history of coffee? Shepherds used to eat coffee beans to avoid dozing off at night while guarding their flocks.

The purpose of Caffeinated goods is to keep your eyes open. That is why you should avoid that yummy looking chocolate brownie. Instead, you can indulge in some of the wine onboard.

A couple of glasses will help you calm down, but do not get sloshed. You want to sleep like a baby not act like a baby.
